BDK Fellowship

- BDK Fellowship Committee
The scholarship aims at the promotion of international cooperation and mutual understanding in Buddhist studies, and is intended to enable researchers to engage in research on Buddhism while in Japan.
Who is Eligible
- Must hold foreign nationality (except Japanese)
- Must be ages under 40 years old
- Preferably advanced graduate students working toward a Ph.D. degree
- Must enable to engage in the academic study of Buddhism for one full year
- Must be affiliated with a Japanese university of research institute while in Japan
※Applicants who fulfill all of the above conditions may submit all the required documents to apply by the deadline.

Fellowship Award

・Monthly scholarship payments of:
- ¥250,000 (for a single awadee)
- ¥300,000 (for an awadee with his/her accompanying family)※

・Health insurance premium provided by a local government office in Japan(for recipient and his/her accompanying family)※

・Expenses for domestic research travel and book-purchase:¥40,000 each (one time each only)

・One round trip economy class air fare for a recipient(for recipient already residing in Japan, a one-way return ticket)
